Anthony Gordon has emerged as one of England’s most influential attackers under Thomas Tuchel, scoring in all three Nations League matches and strengthening his position as the team’s preferred left winger. His run has pushed Morgan Rogers and Marcus Rashford further down the pecking order.

Anthony Gordon has made the most of his opportunities with England, producing a goal in each of his three Nations League appearances.

He scored against Spain after 70 minutes on the pitch, followed it with another goal in 81 minutes against Czechia, and then delivered his most complete performance against Croatia, scoring and assisting in a 70-minute appearance.

The consistency of his output has made Gordon increasingly difficult for Tuchel to overlook.

Three Games, Three Decisive Performances

Gordon’s impact has gone beyond simply finding the net.

Against Spain, he provided England with a direct threat from the left and eventually got on the scoresheet.

Against Czechia, he continued that momentum by scoring again before being substituted late in the game.

His performance against Croatia took things another step further.

Gordon combined a goal with an assist, showing that he can influence the game both as a scorer and creator.

Across the three matches, he has shown the pace, movement, pressing intensity and end product that Tuchel demands from his wide players.

The biggest takeaway from the international break is Gordon’s growing status within England’s squad.

Morgan Rogers remains an option on the left, while Marcus Rashford can also operate in the position, but Gordon’s recent performances have given Tuchel little reason to change a winning formula.

His ability to stretch defences, attack space and contribute directly to goals fits naturally into Tuchel’s approach. More importantly, he is now backing those qualities up with consistent production.

Gordon’s England form also reflects the development he has shown since joining FC Barcelona.

Playing alongside Lamine Yamal and Raphinha has added another layer to his attacking game, particularly in terms of movement, combination play and understanding when to attack space.

That progress is now translating to the international stage.

Gordon is no longer simply competing for a place in England’s starting XI.

His recent performances have established him as a serious first-choice option on the left.

Three Nations League games have produced three goals for Gordon, along with an assist against Croatia.

For Tuchel, that kind of consistency is difficult to ignore. For Gordon, it represents another important step in his development.

The competition from Rogers and Rashford remains, but Gordon has used this international window to strengthen his position and make England’s left wing increasingly his own
