FC Barcelona have announced that Jules Koundé has extended his contract until 30 June 2030, shortly after BG posted on X. The club says the agreement will be formalised with president Joan Laporta in the coming days.

The official statement underlined Koundé’s status as a mainstay at right-back under Hansi Flick and recalled his extra-time winner against Real Madrid in last season’s Copa del Rey final. The club also notes he is entering his fourth season in blaugrana since arriving from Sevilla in 2022.

The number behind the renewal

According to the club, Koundé made 86 consecutive appearances between 25 November 2023 and 19 April 2025, more than any other player in the squad over that period. He finished last season with 53 appearances, and his overall Barça tally stands at 141 matches, with seven goals and five trophies (two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey).

Locking Koundé in through 2030 secures Flick’s first-choice right-back for the medium term and maintains continuity on the right flank ahead of the league opener against Mallorca tomorrow. Local reports also suggest the timing of the deal helps Barça with squad registration under LaLiga’s financial rules.

With Koundé tied down, Flick retains a two-way full-back who defends aggressively and combines well going forward. The extension stabilises a key position as Barcelona begin their title defence this weekend.
