Barcelona closed August with a 1 – 1 draw in Vallecas. Lamine Yamal scored a penalty in the first half, and Fran Pérez equalized from a corner after the break. The pitch was rough, the VAR monitor worked off and on in the first half, and Joan García’s saves protected the point. Hansi Flick rotated in defense, Fermín López saw minutes off the bench, and Barça finished the month on seven points from three away games.

Match summary

Barça started with control but little clarity. Lamine won a penalty on the right and scored it to give Barça a 1-0 lead. Dani Olmo and Raphinha had chances to extend it, but the final touch was missing.

A corner was not cleared, and Fran Pérez finished at the far post for 1-1. Barcelona lost rhythm with too many turnovers and never found the pass that would decide it.

Joan García saves Barcelona

This was the goalkeeper’s night. He blocked Ratiu at point blank range in the first half. He reacted fast on efforts from Isi Palazón. At 1-1 he stood tall in a one on one with De Frutos. His positioning was clean, his feet were sure, and his timing off the line was sharp. He was named Man of the Match for this performance. Without those stops, Barça do not take anything home.

Lineup and decisions

Flick tweaked the back line. Christensen and Eric García started at center back, with Koundé at right back and Balde on the left. Frenkie de Jong returned in midfield. Ferran Torres led the line up front. Off the bench, Rashford came on for Raphinha, Fermín for Olmo, and Lewandowski for Ferran. Gerard Martín made his first minutes of the season late on.
