Barcelona have registered Wojciech Szczesny for LaLiga. The 35 year old goalkeeper is now eligible for Sunday’s trip to Rayo Vallecano in Vallecas.
The club opened the needed salary space by sending Iñaki Peña on loan to Elche after extending his deal to 2029 to help with fair play. Szczesny has also renewed with Barça until 2027.
Szczesny now appears on LaLiga’s list of registered first team goalkeepers alongside Marc André ter Stegen, Joan García, and Diego Kochen. He missed the first two league matches, but he can be named in the squad for matchday three.
Last season, Szczesny came out of retirement and worked his way into the lineup in 2025 during a trophy run. With Joan García brought in as first choice, Szczesny gives Hansi Flick experience and depth, and the coach will decide if he gets minutes in specific competitions.
