Barcelona are pushing to reopen Spotify Camp Nou for the Valencia match on September 13 to 14. Sources have confirmed to Blaugranagram that tomorrow’s City Council visit will be decisive after the club received the final works certificate for Phase 1A.
The final certificate for Phase 1A has been signed, covering the Grandstand and the South Goal. According to Mundo Deportivo, Monday’s meeting between Barça and City Council representatives scheduled a Tuesday inspection to check the conditions for the first occupancy license, which is required for fans to enter. The initial reopening plan targets a capacity of about 27,000.
According to reports coming out of Spain, LaLiga has declined to switch the fixture order for Matchday 4, so Mestalla is off the table and Barça must find a home venue if Camp Nou is not ready. Montjuïc is complicated that weekend because Post Malone has a concert on Friday, September 12, and there isn’t enough time to prepare the pitch for a league match. The club is still weighing alternatives. Johan Cruyff Stadium holds about 6,000 seats, which is below LaLiga’s 8,000 minimum, and Montilivi availability depends on Girona’s turf works.
UEFA inspected the works last week and would allow Barça to play at Spotify Camp Nou if all domestic permits are in place. The Champions League league phase draw is on Thursday, August 28, so Barça must confirm their home venue by then. UEFA’s television requirements call for the Lateral open for broadcasts, while Phase 1A at Camp Nou would open the Grandstand and the South Goal.
For contingency, the club is considering a split arrangement. LaLiga games could be at Camp Nou, while European matches could move to Montjuïc if needed. There is also a parallel understanding to use Montjuïc until February 2026 if Camp Nou is not ready. Running both stadiums at once would be avoided due to cost. A final call will follow the Tuesday inspection.
