Barcelona controlled the night at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and beat Getafe 3-0. A first-half brace from Ferran Torres and a composed finish from Dani Olmo sealed three points that keep Hansi Flick’s team right on Real Madrid’s heels.

Lineup

Hansi Flick made four changes from the win in Newcastle. The starting XI was Joan García, Koundé, Eric García, Christensen, Gerard Martín, De Jong, Pedri, Raphinha, Olmo, Ferran, Lewandowski. Marcus Rashford started among the substitutes after arriving late, a decision taken by Flick to reinforce internal discipline.

Goals

Barcelona’s opener in the 15th minute was a sequence worth replaying. Raphinha received wide on the right, slipped a pass into the half-space for Dani Olmo, and Olmo back-heeled into Ferran’s stride. Ferran hit a first-time right-footer across David Soria and into the far corner.

The second came in the 34th minute. Eric García stepped in to win the ball and launched a clean vertical ball that Raphinha controlled and laid into Ferran’s path. One touch to control, one to finish. Clinical.

Olmo added the third after halftime. Rashford attacked the space and found Olmo inside the box.

Statistics

Barcelona’s passing accuracy broke down Getafe’s defensive plan. Nine of the sixteen players who featured were above 90 percent completion. Highlights included Eric García at 98 of 105, Pedri at 91 of 98, Christensen at 81 of 84, and Joan García at 27 of 28. Casadó completed 36 of 36. Bardghji was 11 of 11. De Jong, Rashford, and Fermín also crossed the 90 percent mark.

Standings

Barcelona sit second with 13 points, two behind leaders Real Madrid. The start has been solid and the clean sheets are stacking up. A midweek trip to Oviedo is next on the league schedule.

Post-match interview summary

Ferran underlined his ambition after being named MVP. He said he can be a starter at Barcelona, that more goals will come, and that he is growing into the striker role. Olmo emphasized that minutes bring rhythm and that he wants to keep helping the team after a complete display.

Fermín López injury update

Barcelona have confirmed that Fermín López suffered a muscle injury in his left iliopsoas and is expected to be out for around three weeks. He felt the pain at the end of this match and left in clear discomfort. He is set to miss Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Paris Saint-Germain on October 1, and Sevilla. He will not join Spain during the October break.
