In a last-minute agreement, DAZN has finalized a deal with Liga F to stream the upcoming 2025–26 season for just under €15 per month. Here are the details and potential terms of the deal.
Uncertainties
Until earlier today, it was unclear where fans would be able to watch the upcoming Liga F season. During the break, rumors suggested the league was considering ending its partnership with DAZN, which has been its streaming provider since Liga F’s transition to a fully professional league.
Just two days before the season begins, the new terms have been announced: fans will no longer be able to watch matches for free and will instead pay a monthly fee of €14.99.
The uncertainty arose after DAZN requested certain guarantees from Liga F, including improved stadium facilities to accommodate cameras and streaming equipment, as well as assurances of higher viewership. DAZN had also threatened to cease streaming altogether, despite holding the broadcast rights.
Reaching Out to Competitors
According to our sources, Liga F explored alternatives by reaching out to DAZN’s competitors to ensure that fans would be able to stream the games at the start of the season.
Among the candidates was Disney+, a service familiar to most European fans through its acquisition of the UEFA Women’s Champions League streaming rights—previously held by DAZN. Other options included RTVE and, as a last resort, the RFEF or La Liga+ apps. Liga F would have pursued these options only if DAZN had not presented a reasonable plan before this weekend’s kickoff.
Resolution
In the end, both parties reached a workable solution that involved compromises from each side. For instance, there may be reductions in the audiovisual setup at certain stadiums, such as fewer cameras or other technical adjustments.
