Pau Moral has been a coach at Al-Rayyan’s youth academy in Qatar since 2021, but, before that, he spent six and a half years in La Masía, where he was able to meet and help mold some of Barça’s brightest players today. In a recent interview with Flashscore, Blaugranagram’s partner, Moral spoke about his years at Barça, among many other things.
Marc Bernal and Lamine Yamal arrived in Barça the same year, and when asked about them, Moral explains, “Lamine always surprises you, he is different, he is one step ahead, he was gifted and there are very few people like him”. About Bernal, the Al-Rayyan coach also speaks highly, “he has a lot of presence in the midfield, for us he was a player who gave very good performances, who competed very well and who at every stage has always been important.”
Pau Moral remembers Gavi very fondly, and expects him to succeed despite all his injuries.”Gaiv is spectacular, from the first day he had that mentality, a spectacular attitude and character”, and he continues, “but he’s not only intensity, Gavi is also pure talent”. Another Andalusian midfielder, Fermín, makes Pau Moral smile, “I remember him very well, he was always nice and smiling, very friendly. He struggled at first, since his physical development arrived a bit late, but, in the end, his strength matched that of the others and became the amazing player he is today.”
The former Barça coach has faith in Casadó, “he’s one of those players who perhaps at first do not give him the label of the star of the team, perhaps, but a player who has always been working, has been going up through stages, always giving a good performance and playing a lot because the coach trusted him”, and he says, “I don’t think he will stagnate, because by training with the players you train, you will continue to improve.”
