Barcelona beat Girona 2-1 at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Ronald Araújo came off the bench and scored in added time to complete the comeback. The win lifts Barça to the top of the LaLiga table, with Real Madrid still to play.

Sources have confirmed to Blaugranagram that Hansi Flick told Ronald Araújo to stay high and attack the box, trusting his strength and timing against Girona’s back line. Frenkie de Jong drove a low cross from the right into the area. Araújo burst toward the near post and met the ball first, guiding a firm shot across Paulo Gazzaniga.

After the match, Araújo said he had joked with teammates during the warm up that if he came on, he would score. They laughed, then he did exactly that. He also stressed how important the three points were and praised the team’s character to keep pushing until the end.

Pedri scored the first goal for Barcelona in the 13th minute, and Girona equalised before the break. The match stayed tight until Ronald Araújo scored in added time to complete the comeback. With the victory, Barça are up to 22 points from nine matches, with seven wins, one draw, and one defeat. Girona are 19th in the table and fighting to get out of the relegation zone.
