Former Barça B player Jordi Vinyals conceded a recent interview with Flashscore, where he analyzed Barça’s season and current situation. Vinyals was also a coach in Barcelona’s youth system after his retirement and also was Eusebio Sacristán‘s assistant and worked with some important names such as Carles Aleñá, Marc Cucurella or Álex Grimaldo, about whom spoke very highly in the interview.

Vinyals praised the current Barça team, “It’s spectacular. The financial situation means you have to look down, and when you look down, interesting things always come up. The thing is, this year has been one of the most productive in recent years for the club, and we have to take advantage of that. The only downside is that these young players now could create a bottleneck for those who come from below.”

The former player, now in the Chinese Super League, continues “On a footballing level, I think the team is going to grow, for sure. They’ll do better things every day, learn more, and become more mature, which the team already is in many ways. However, the most important thing is being able to manage all the impact they are having and the attention they are receiving, which is very difficult to manage.”

Jordi Vinyals also spoke about one of his former players at Barça youth system, and a player that has been rumoured to return to Camp Nou this summer, Leverkusen’s Álex Grimaldo, “He’s a very attacking full-back. Now, after his time in Portugal and Germany in particular, I think he’s improved, especially defensively, and he’s a top-level player. For me, he’s one of the best players at full-back. He’s at a point where he could go to any big team and be a major success.”
