January was a hectic month for Barcelona, as they offloaded a few players, but also secured some transfers for the upcoming season.

Although clubs don’t tend to spend big money mid-season, this January market was a big one for FC Barcelona, who amidst many rumors and negotiations managed to land Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, and offload Denis Suárez to Arsenal, being the two most prominent moves from the Club.

Let’s take a look at all the transfers and loan deals the Catalan club made in January.

Frenkie de Jong
Former club/current club: AFC Ajax, Eredivisie.
Joining on: July 1, 2019.
Position: Central defensive midfielder/central midfielder.
Price: €75 million and €11M in variables*
Contracted until: 2023/24.

*Note: The variables are officially €11 million: reliable outlets have said that €6 million out of the €11 million is a signing bonus, whereas the remaining €5 million are variables.

Emerson
Former club/current club: Atlético Mineiro, Liga do Brasil.
Joining on: July 1st, 2019.
Position: Full-back (right).
Price: €12 million, variables undisclosed.
Contracted until: 2023/24.

Denis Suárez
New club: Arsenal, Barclays Premier League.
Move: Loan deal with option to buy.
