Barcelona are targeting the signing of Onana this summer.

One of the names that has been circulating around Barcelona lately as a potential reinforcement for the midfield is that of Belgian international midfielder Amadou Onana. A 22-year-old giant of Senegalese descent standing at 1.92 meters tall, Onana made his debut in June 2022 in the Nations League with the Belgian national team.

According to Alfredo Martinez from SPORT, he did so under the guidance of Catalan coach Robert Martínez, who is currently the Portuguese national team coach but was the man who gave him his debut with the Belgian Red Devils back then. Martínez alerted Barcelona to the immense potential of the player, endorsing what he believed would be a great signing. His good relationship with Jordi Cruyff, whom he knew from their time in England, served as a connection.

The player’s price tag and Barcelona’s financial situation made it impossible, but Onana was the standout player in the market with an impeccable endorsement from Robert Martínez. He was the first to recognize his enormous potential. Onana continues to attract interest today, but Barcelona’s financial constraints persist, making it difficult for them to snatch him away from the English clubs without a hefty fee.
