Multiple reports over the past few days have suggested that the new president Joan Laporta is looking for a new first-team manager for the next season. However, his entourage has denied such claims and has ensured their confidence in Ronald Koeman.

According to the information from SER Catalunya regarding that Julian Nagelsmann is the coach who convinces Joan Laporta the most for the FC Barcelona bench ahead of Ronald Koeman, the reaction of the environment closest to the Barcelona president-elect is that there is absolute confidence in the Dutch coach. The same sources assure that there has been no movement to seek an alternative to Koeman in the current Leipzig coach.

The intention of the future Barcelona leadership is to continue counting on Ronald Koeman for the next season after seeing how he is leading the dressing room in the full reconstruction of the squad, trusting the young players, and recovering the highest level of Leo Messi. Laporta has always had very good words for Koeman during the campaign and in the days after being elected, there has been a very good connection with Ronald. “He is a Barça legend, he has and deserves a confidence margin that will mark the results and the game and he has a two-year contract,” Laporta said before the end of 2020.

Despite getting eliminated from the Champions League in the round of 16 against Paris, the team has displayed good performances and a strong mentality lately. The team is in the Cup final and is pretty much alive in the League, breathing down the neck of leaders Atletico Madrid in the table. The new system being used by Koeman seems to be helping the team and they look much more effective in front of the goal than before.

Laporta is very happy with the spirit that reigns in the Barcelona dressing room and the image given in the last two months, with the games against Sevilla and Paris. The new president has full faith in being able to celebrate the League-Cup double in the remainder of the season.
