Barcelona are awaiting an answer from Ousmane Dembele in the coming days on whether he wants to accept the club’s latest contract offer, according to Fernando Polo.

Ousmane Dembele’s contract situation is still up in the air. Dembele’s contract expires in the upcoming summer window, and Barcelona are losing patience waiting for an answer. On January 1st, the French winger will be allowed to negotiate and sign agreements with other clubs.

Reliable Mundo Deportivo journalist Fernando Polo reports that the club has put an offer on the table, and they expect an answer from Dembele in the next few days.

Polo says that Dembele has made it clear to Xavi, Laporta and sporting director Mateu Alemany that he wants to continue at the club. However, the club feels that he’s not showing the same intentions in the negotiations. Fernando Polo adds that the club has made an “interesting” offer with “spectacular” variables.

Gerard Romero says the club has upped the offer by 1 million euros. The offer is now a reported 7.5 million euros + 3.5 million in variables.

Dembele now has to weight up his wish to continue at Barça and the offers he’s received from other clubs. Should he leave for free next summer, Dembele will most likely receive a hefty sign-on bonus. Interested clubs are Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle.

Polo claims that Xavi has assured Dembele that should he stay, he will have a central role in his team. He even said that he can become the best in the world in his position.
