After making multiple efforts in the recent months, FC Barcelona finally secured 17-year-old Emre Demir from Kayserispor.

After months of negotiations that picked up pace in the recent days, the Catalan Club completed the signing from Turkey. It is understood that Barcelona president Joan Laporta was directly involved in the operation to sign the Turkish prospect.

However, Demir will only join the Barca B set-up later – a conditional agreement similar to that of Pedri. Ideally, Demir could join Sergio Barjuan’s team in January after he turns 18. Barcelona will pay close to 4 million euros initially for the signing, with added future clauses.

Demir debuted at the age of 15 in the 2019/20 Turkish league but is yet to make an appearance this season. An attacking midfielder by nature, Demir is also versatile and can operate in either flank. It must be understood that Demir was in La Masia years ago for his trial, and despite a brief spell at Paris Saint-Germain, has ultimately chosen Barcelona.
