Barça continue their poor run of form after a disappointing defeat against Celta and any possible chances of them winning the league are now mathematically over. Jordi Alba and Ronald Koeman spoke to the press after the match and talked about the result, Messi’s future among other things.

This is what Ronald Koeman had to say :

On the result :

“In the first half, it is a reflection of what has happened this season. We played well, created chances, but Celta attacked once and scored. We went to the locker room with the score 1-1 and it was mentally difficult. In the second half, until we were left with 10 men, we were 2-1 behind, but we had neither luck nor quality.”

On his future :

“I’m not going to answer that and I said yesterday what I think and it is not necessary to repeat it.”

On whether it was Messi’s last game at the Camp Nou :

“We hope not. He is still the best player in the world and he has shown it today too, that playing without him is impossible. He has scored 30 goals, he has helped the team for many years. Hopefully, he continues but it is a question for Leo. If Leo isn’t there, who’s going to score the goals?”

On what went wrong for the team :

“I think the problem is not from today. We had the opportunity at home against Granada. The way to lose when we had chances to win, that’s how we feel. There is no other way to accept it. The best team is going to be the champion and we have not been at that level.”

This is what Jordi Alba had to say :

On the team’s poor form :

” We’re screwed up. It is difficult to assimilate that we have not been able to win any of the last four games.”

On tonight’s result :

“The first half was very good, they hardly reached the goal, then they scored a good goal and we reached the half-time level. In the second half, we have not been good, then at the end in an unfortunate action, they scored the second. We went a little crazy going up on the attack because we wanted a goal, they were able to take advantage of it and scored on the counter. I’m not talking about a tactical error, but something normal that happens to many teams, that you go up, you look for a goal that does not arrive and you are opening spaces.”

On whether it was Messi’s last game at the Camp Nou :

“Let’s hope not, but it’s a decision he must make.”
