Barça B Get Their First Win of the New Year

A late goal from Ferran Jutgla sees Barça B win for the first time in eight games

Resilience is what Barça B showed in the second half. Down 1-0 to start the second half and not looking like the better of the two sides did not stop them from turning the game on its head.

Two goals in two minutes from Barça B to take the lead early into the second half was unexpected. CD Alcoyano had started the second half much like they did the first: with pressing and making Barça B as uncomfortable as they could.

But instead of succumbing to the press they broke it. That first goal started off from the back and involved numerous timely and precise passes to get through CD Alcoyano. Although it wasn’t perfect, the ball found it’s way to Ez Abde who played it to Peque and slotted it home around the aggressive Alcoyano defense.

Before even being able to process what had just happened, Alcoyano found themselves down courtesy of Ez Abde. With a spectacular solo run that started from midfield and ended with a rifle of a shot after dancing through Alcoyano defenders, the game had been flipped.

From being up 1-0 to being down 2-1 in the span of just two minutes, Alcoyano, who had been the better team for the majority of the game, were in shock. With over a half hour left of game time there was plenty of time for Alcoyano to respond and soon they did.

Just seven minutes after taking the lead Barça B found themselves back on level terms. With a goal from Toni Abad all things were pointing to another draw for a club that hadn’t won since mid-December.

More Late Drama

But if there’s anything we’ve learned about this club during this poor run of form is that they play until the final whistle. For weeks Barça B had clawed back to score late goals and walk away with a result. Today wouldn’t be any different.

Just minutes before the final whistle, Jandro Orellana would play an unbelievable through ball for Ferran Jutgla who would get just enough on it to chip the keeper and put Barça B back in front.

It would prove to be enough for Barça B’s first win in over two months, a win that gives them some breathing room in their relegation fight.
