Pau Cubarsi is negotiation a new contract with Barcelona.

Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsí, aged 16 and 17 respectively, should represent the future of FC Barcelona, but they are already the present of the Blaugrana team and the current hope of Barcelona supporters. The former is already renewed, and the latter is the top priority of the technical management. According to Ferran Martinez of Mundo Deportivo, Pau Cubarsí is already in negotiations with FC Barcelona, and his agent already has the basis of the Blaugrana proposal in writing. It’s a formula almost identical to that of Lamine Yamal: an initial link until he reaches legal adulthood, followed by a definitive contract binding him to Barça until 2030, when he turns 23.

In other words: a year and a half (this one plus the next, until he turns 18) and then a five-season contract, from the outset with a release clause of €1 billion, like the recent young prospects from the academy: Lamine, Balde, Ansu, Gavi. It should be noted that current regulations do not allow a player under the age of majority to sign for more than three years. But Barcelona, following Lamine’s precedent, devised this new path for selected players.

On the other hand, it is necessary to carefully study the legal foundations, so that there are no surprises later on and everything is clear regardless of who may lead the club or the sports management in the future.

Barça is in a hurry to sign the young Estanyol central defender as soon as possible. They know that the more games he plays, and at this high level, the higher his market value will be. Even more so if he ends up being included in the Spanish national team, something that is not ruled out given his recent performances. The player, for his part, remains calm. He signed his first professional contract in the summer until 2026. Three years, and in this case, the club did not reserve the option to extend it for two more.

Typically, the release clauses in the contracts of youngsters signing their first professional contract are €6 million. However, in Cubarsí’s case, there has been speculation that it could be up to €15 million. MD has been able to confirm that the current exit price for the young Blaugrana gem is less than €10 million.

A tempting offer for the big European clubs that have been following him since he was (even) younger. Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Bayern… all are on the lookout and willing to pay, but Barça’s luck is that the player’s intention is to stay. In fact, external proposals are on hold because the priority is for him to remain at Barcelona for many years. Pau Cubarsí could have left last season, and a call from Óscar Hernández, Xavi’s assistant, confirmed that it was a clear bet for the first team. This summer, Xavi already included him to start the season, and he subsequently joined the dynamics of Barça Atlètic.

At youth level, he began the preseason to convince Rafa Márquez and he did. Although he had little time with the reserve team. The call from the second coach of the first team was not an empty promise. There is Pau Cubarsí.
