Sources close to Sergiño Dest’s entourage have exclusively confirmed to Blaugranagram that Bayern Munich appear in pole position despite Barcelona’s continued interest.
Ajax starlet Sergiño Dest continues to be a hot topic for Europe’s top clubs, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich continuing to be interested in acquiring the 19-year-old defender’s services.
As Blaugranagram exclusively reported last week, Barcelona’s interest did in fact materialized, with the Catalans having met with Dest’s representatives to try and strike a deal.
Sources close to Dest’s entourage now confirm to Blaugranagram that both Barcelona and Bayern Munich now are in close negotiations with Ajax over Dest, with Bayern continuing to be interested in the talented full-back. In fact, the Bavarians ‘appear in pole position’ for Dest, the sources told Blaugranagram. Bayern have a plan in mind for Dest; with Liverpool’s signing of Thiago Alcântara, Joshua Kimmich will be deployed in Bayern’s midfield, freeing up a spot for Sergiño Dest, who then would become their regular right-back choice.
As for Barcelona, sources tell Blaugranagram that the Catalan club, while it remains in close contact with Ajax, still has an obstacle in Nélson Semedo, whose move to English side Wolves is yet to be finalized. The Portuguese’s departure will both help Barcelona on the pitch, freeing up a spot in the line-up, as well as financially by freeing up room in the Catalans’ heavy wage bill.
Given that nothing with regards to the American defender has been finalized yet, a final decision on Dest’s future could land within the next few days, sources tell Blaugranagram.
