In a recent interview, Barcelona club president Joan Laporta has assured that Barca are exploring potential recruits, and opened up about Ansu Fati’s future.

Barcelona’s transfer activity has not exactly been at an all time high. Part of that lies in the delays caused by LaLiga’s mandatory approval of the feasibility plan, which took more time than initially expected. The other part lies in the club’s financial troubles, in which they now find themselves in only a deficit of 200 million euros.

In a recent interview with SER Catalunya’s show Que t’hi Jugues, the club president has spoken out about multiple situations regarding the club.

On the Super League:

“Since UEFA has not seen any sports corruption (in the Negreira case) and since a club cannot be condemned without being convicted, we will be able to participate in the Champions League. We will compete to win it.”

“We are awaiting the resolution. Being part of the project will serve as a bridge for dialogue between UEFA and the Super League clubs.”

On the club’s relationship with LaLiga:

“We are in a good moment of institutional and personal relations with the League and its president. We have resumed a good relationship. I believe it should always be like this. We should be in harmony.”

On potential recruitments:

“In the midfield [for the pivot position], we’re considering several options on the market. If there are any departures, we may make some new signings,” Laporta told SER.

“I am convinced that we will be able to register what we have agreed with Xavi. The market has only just begun. We will make some additions in defense if we are allowed with some departures that need to be made,” he continued.

“In midfield, we will make one more reinforcement because the coach has requested it,” Laporta added.

On Ansu Fati:

Ansu Fati has a contract [with the club] and has shown us his desire to continue.”
