Jürgen Klopp opens up about Wijnaldum and Thiago links

According to multiple reports, Georginio Wijnaldum is keen to stay at Liverpool, amid Barcelona Speculations.

Since taking charge as the manager of FC Barcelona, Ronald Koeman has had one demand, to bring Wijnaldum to the Camp Nou. But the operation has suffered a major set back in the past few days. With the club also linked to former Barça player and current Liverpool target, Thiago, things could turn out unexpectedly.

According to multiple reports, Georginio Wijnaldum is waiting on for the Merseyside club to offer him a contract renewal. The 29-year-old has been in talks with the club to extend his stay at Liverpool, which will make it difficult for Barcelona to get him.

Thiago is another name that has resurfaced as a potential transfer target for Barcelona, but Liverpool has been in a stronger contention to sign the Spanish midfielder. “It’s nice that we are linked with Thiago Alcantara, I’ve always said he’s a good player, but unfortunately I can’t end speculations” explained Klopp.

The Catalan club has also been busy with making decisions on the players already in the squad, such as Luis Suárez. The Uruguayan was tipped to leave Camp Nou this window but now, per multiple reports could end up staying

Another name in Koeman’s wish list was Memphis Depay. The Lyon striker is closing in on a transfer after having reached an agreement with the Catalan club. Although, an agreement between the clubs is yet to be reached.
