PSV is considering €10 Million purchase option for Sergiño Dest amid a successful loan spell.

Sergiño Dest is making the most of his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, and the Dutch club is seriously considering exercising the €10 million purchase option to secure ownership of the American full-back. This is explained by the newspaper ‘Eindhovens Dagblad’, which details that PSV even hopes to negotiate a discount with Barcelona on the transfer fee. The negotiation between PSV and Barcelona for Dest’s signing should not be complicated, as the Catalan club does not consider the player in their future project. However, there is more uncertainty when it comes to finalizing the full-back’s contract.

PSV is currently paying a portion of Dest’s salary, which is quite high, but if the player stays in the Eredivisie, they will have to cover his entire salary, which could lead to problems. In this scenario, PSV Eindhoven is closely watching to see if they can secure a spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after the draw (1-1) in the first leg of the round of 16 against Borussia Dortmund. Qualification would bring €10.6 million to PSV, and they could allocate part of that amount to Dest’s purchase.

This injection of money would be crucial for the Dutch club, but they also hope that Dest himself will make a gesture and lower his demands to facilitate his signing.

Sergiño Dest has been an undisputed part of PSV’s successful season, appearing in 31 matches across all competitions, providing six assists and scoring two goals, including the recent one against Go Ahead Eagles. Despite theoretically being a right-back, the American is playing almost every game as a left wing-back and has seamlessly fit into Peter Bosz’s tactics.

Everything seems to be pointing towards Dest staying at PSV beyond the current season, but an agreement still needs to be finalized.
