Esport3 are reporting that Barcelona are close to acquiring 23 year Wolfsburg midfielder Ingrid Syrstad Engen.

Less than two weeks after winning the Champions League with a 4-0 slaughtering of Chelsea, Barcelona Femení are already looking to strengthen and are close to landing Norwegian midfielder Ingrid Syrstad Engen from Wolfsburg. Esport3 say the negotiations are in its final stage.

Syrstad Engen is also a team-mate of Barcelona player Caroline Graham Hansen at the Norwegian national team. Engen is a dynamic midfielder good at timing her runs into the box. She can play in any position across the middle of the park, and has even been played in defence on occasion.

Engen has been a regular sight on the biggest stage the last few years. Last in 2020 she was in the Wolfsburg starting 11 that started the Champions League final against Lyon, which they ended up losing 3-1. She also faced her potential future employer in the 2018/19 edition of the Women’s Champions League, back then playing for Norwegian club Lillestrøm, losing the two-legged quarter final against Barça.
