The first mini clasico in seven years fails to provide any goals as it stays 0-0.

Barça B struggle early

As soon as the whistle blew it seemed like Barça B was just a step slower. Real Madrid Castilla’s high press was throwing Barça B off. Possession wasn’t followed by creativity and Castilla was the closer side to open the scoring.

The first dangerous chance of the match being generated from the left-wing as Óscar Aranda got by Guillem Jaime with a nice move but failed to put his shot on target.

Castilla kept putting the pressure on, attacking from the flanks, their high press causing even more problems for Barça B.

It wouldn’t be until the 25’ minute until Barça B got a real chance.

Against the run of play, Barça B get a good look at goal off a quick counter but Ferrán Jutglà’s shot goes just wide from a tough angle.

The rest of the half saw both clubs playing to their style. Barça B attempting to possess and progress the ball forward while Castilla would wait for their opportunities to press and counter.

Castilla was the club closer to opening the scoring with Sergio Arribas and Peter González both having opportunities to do so two minutes apart.

Barça B was lucky to go into the break with a draw.

A more even half

Castilla picked up the second half where they left off the first. Being the more threatening side.

Peter was played through on goal and had the chance to get a shot off but went down too easily on the edge of the box. No foul.

Shortly after Jutglà missed a chance to put Barça B on top. Up to this point, it was Barça B’s best chance all match.

The match would become a bit chaotic with Barça B and Castilla exchanging chances. Peter and Jutglà being the driving forces for both sides.

The 75’ minute saw Barça B weather the storm and begin to take control. A couple of chances followed.

Alvaro Sans got a good look at goal following a beautiful build-up and Castilla began to defend for their lives and were up to the task seeing out the result.

Ultimately the mini classic ended in a 0-0 draw, but it did not disappoint.

Barça B will be back at the Estadi Johan Cruyff next weekend to face CD Alcoyano.
